Organisation of Football in Andorra

The organisation of football in Andorra is structured in a hierarchical manner, allowing clubs to ascend or descend based on their performances. This structure is divided into several levels, ranging from professional football to amateur football.

At the top of the hierarchy is the Primera Divisió, which is the highest level of Andorran football. It comprises eight clubs that compete for the title of Andorra's champion. The bottom two clubs in the standings at the end of the season are relegated to the Segona Divisió, which also includes eight clubs. The top two teams from the Segona Divisió are promoted to the Primera Divisió.

The Segona Divisió, the second tier of Andorran football, hosts eight clubs. The top two teams are promoted to the Primera Divisió. Due to the small size of the country, there are no levels below the Segona Divisió in the Andorran football league system.

In addition to these two leagues, there is also an Andorran Cup, a knockout competition open to all clubs in the country. This competition provides another pathway for Andorran clubs to qualify for European competitions.

The Andorran Football Federation (AFF)

The Andorran Football Federation (AFF) is the official body overseeing football in Andorra. Established in 1994, it is tasked with the organization and development of football at all levels within the country, from amateur football to professional competitions. The AFF also manages the national teams, including the men's, women's, and youth teams. It is responsible for enforcing the rules of the game, promoting sportsmanship, and guiding ethics in the sport.

Under the auspices of the AFF is the Primera Divisió, Andorra's professional football league. The AFF also organizes the Andorran Cup, a competition open to all Andorran clubs. In addition to competitions, the AFF is committed to developing women's football, sports infrastructure, and training programs for players and coaches.
