Organization of Football in Armenia

The organization of football in Armenia is structured according to a hierarchical league system, allowing clubs to rise in rank or suffer relegations based on their performances. This system is divided into several levels, ranging from professionalism to amateur football.

At the top of the hierarchy is the Armenian Premier League, which is the highest level of Armenian football. It brings together the best clubs in the country who battle for the title of Armenian champion. The least performing teams at the end of the season are relegated to the Armenian First League.

The Armenian First League is the second level of Armenian football. The clubs that evolve there aspire to be promoted to the Premier League, while the least performing ones risk relegation to the lower levels.

Below these two professional leagues, Armenian football is organized into regional and local leagues, which constitute the lower levels of the league system. These leagues offer amateur and semi-professional clubs the opportunity to compete at a competitive level and progress in the hierarchy of Armenian football.

The Football Federation of Armenia (FFA)

The Football Federation of Armenia (FFA) is the official body overseeing football in Armenia. Established in 1992, it is responsible for organizing and developing football at all levels, from amateur football to professional competitions. The FFA also manages the national teams, including the men's, women's, and youth teams. Its role includes managing the rules of the game, promoting sportsmanship, and overseeing ethics in the sport.

Under the auspices of the FFA is the Armenian Premier League, which is the professional football league in Armenia. The FFA also organizes the Armenian Cup, a competition open to all Armenian clubs, from amateur to professional. In addition to competitions, the FFA is committed to developing women's football, sports infrastructure, and training programs for players and coaches.
