Organisation of Football in Myanmar

The organisation of football in Myanmar is structured around a hierarchical league system, allowing clubs to ascend or descend based on their performances. This structure is divided into several levels, ranging from professional football to amateur football.

At the top of the hierarchy is the Myanmar National League, which is the highest level of Burmese football. It comprises 12 professional clubs that compete for the title of Myanmar Champion. The bottom two clubs in the standings at the end of the season are relegated to the Myanmar National League 2, which also includes 12 clubs. The top two clubs from the Myanmar National League 2 are promoted to the Myanmar National League.

The third level of Burmese football is the Regional League, which is divided into several regional divisions. Clubs in this league have the opportunity to ascend to the Myanmar National League 2 based on their performances.

Beyond the Regional League, the system continues with local divisions and youth leagues, highlighting the depth and richness of Burmese football at all levels of competition.

The Myanmar Football Federation (MFF)

The Myanmar Football Federation (MFF) is the official body overseeing football in Myanmar. Established in 1947, the MFF is responsible for organizing and developing football at all levels within the country, from amateur football to professional competitions. It also manages the national teams, including the men's, women's, and youth teams. Its role includes managing the rules of the game, promoting sportsmanship, and overseeing ethics in the sport.

The MFF organizes and supervises the Myanmar National League, the country's highest football competition. It also organizes the Myanmar Cup, a competition open to all clubs in the country, from amateur to professional. In addition to competitions, the MFF is committed to developing women's football, sports infrastructure, and training programs for players and coaches.
